Happy Sunday everyone! I just wanted to post one last time before the school year comes to a close. Coach Garcia's position was saved by all of your hard work and I could not thank you all enough for that. He will be returning next year to be a teacher at our school, teaching health and sports med, and hopefully he most likely be running the training room after school. Coach Garcia said, "I love you all so much, I could really see myself staying at south pas for a while and retiring from here." Thank you all for taking something that was so important to me and making it possible. I just want to say a huge special thank you to Clem Witherall. I really owe a lot of my success to you!! You were always a huge support and you made an enormous difference in this project. Also thank you toJordan JR Jackmon, Jazmin Jackmon, Justin Moyer, Chris Chew Clayton William Kabealo Sophia Sophia-Annette Hathaway and everyone that I'm missing. You're all the real MVPs. I'm still working with the district to have renovations done to the facility. Hopefully when we return we will have a nice new room. So I will let you all go now, but thank you all enough. Good luck on finals, Have a great summer, and to all the graduating seniors continue doing great things out in the world! Love you all. And if you're having trouble studying, go out to the track and get some exercise in! Your brain will thank you.
SPHS Athletic Training Facility
The South Pasadena High School Athletic Training Facility (SPHS-ATF) is a tremendous asset to our community, and has the potential to further enhance our academic and athletic programs. The purpose of the facility is to address student athletes’ injuries, administer first aid, and develop a rehabilitation treatment plan. Providing these services on campus allows athletes a strong chance to achieve their high athletic ability.

Hip Hip Hooray!
Mama we made it…! As of today, February 19, 2014 Coach Garcia will be here for the rest of the school year as the official sports injury management trainer. His position has been extended, and in addition, he was granted $5,000 to replenish the materials and purchase new equipment. I could not be more proud of everyone who helped me with this project. I cannot express how happy I was to hear this news and how much I appreciate and the support I have gotten. Even though we have come this far, there is still so much more to be done. I want to see Coach Garcia continue working here for the years to come and the facility itself improved. Please continue to volunteer in the training room, donate, do bingo, and spread the word about the project. Also, please respect the equipment and be sure to mindful of everything in the training room because we worked hard to get everything how it is. This is living proof of the saying “Where there is a will, there is a way.” I love you all! Congratulate coach tomorrow when you see him!

Update!
Hello SPHS Students & Athletes,
Just wanted to keep you updated with the project. We have just sent out for two different grants so we are hoping to hear back to see if we got any money. In regards to Coach Garcia's position, his position contract will be ending this March; HOWEVER, the school is looking to pull some funds to try to keep him AT LEAST through the rest of this year. Keep encouraging your parents to write letters addressed to SPHS staff and facility, you do not have to mail them, if you just give me the letter I will take care of that. In addition, donations, bingo help, and volunteers in the training room would all be greats as well. The training room has been extremely busy and having more student trainers in there would be awesome. Tomorrow, there will be a sign up sheet in the training room if you would like to sign up to volunteer. You do not need to know how to tape or do any treatments; Coach Garcia will teach you all of that. Also, we still need people to help with bingo! Let me know if you can. We cannot treat 100+ students a day and have no money for supplies! Lastly, if you are an artist please enter a drawing to have be the official Athletic Training Facility logo! This will be painted on the wall inside the room, and be made into shirts. The drawing must say “South Pasadena Athletic Training Facility” and resemble something of the school. You can turn the drawing into me or leave it on Coach Garcia's desk in the training room. If you have questions about any of this stuff let me know. Thank you all for the love and support.

Thank you!
Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU! Big thank you to all the people who helped me prepare for my meeting last night. I wanted to update you all and let you know the meeting went awesome. The boosters were extremely opened minded, and compelled to help with the project. I could not be happier with how it went. I wanted to let you know that we are hoping to raise $10,000 for supplies we would like to purchase to enhance the current facility once it has been renovated. That includes rehabilitation supplies, a hydrocollator, new cabinets and cubbies, etc. The math foundation raised 8,400+ dollars from the three hour math session two saturdays ago so I know with some creative ideas for fundraisers, and bingo we are capable of raising the money. They’re sending a contractor down on Thursday to get dimensions and give an estimate on the renovations. I’m so glad this project has panned out so nicely. I want to remind you all however, that even though we now have the boosters on board we still have a lot of work. Last night at the meeting they voted and passed a motion to open an SPHS-ATF account so we can officially have students work at bingo. Please beg your parents to work, and also if you guys would help that would be fabulous. We need two parents, and four people or set up and four people for clean up. I have send a list to Joan Aguado by tomorrow, Thursday, if people will be willing to work. Also, since we have a bank account through the district we can accept donations. If you would like to donate you can make checks out to South Pasadena High School Booster Club with the memo “SPHS-ATF.” Again, thank you all for the love and help. This is not just my project or just coach Garcia's project, it's all of ours because it's for all is. Ill keep you all updated and bug your parents for letters, money, and bingo help. Go Tigers!
